Is print dead?

Ode to Halloween

Everybody knows that digital media has exploded over the last few years and that print circulation can certainly be seen as ‘in decline’! But are marketeers, who are buying into the mistaken belief that print is dead and buried, doing themselves a disservice?
Are they missing out on a very real and novel way to connect with their target audience?

I mean who doesn’t love receiving a good piece of print marketing? I know I certainly do! In a world where we’re bombarded with targeted digital ads, a physical, innovative, tailored bit of print material can really get a customer’s attention.

Good print marketing is far more likely to end up on someone’s desk and get passed around the office then get sent to a spam email folder or lost on social timelines. Not only is there something human and substantial about print publications, but by doing so you are amplifying your brand in more creative ways.

With this in mind and Halloween approaching, We Are Ghost were recently looking at ways we could complement a different kind of seasonal mailer. We wanted a creative and engaging way to spark up conversation between ourselves and our target audience. We chose targeted businesses to send out a spooky mailer to, each one consisting of a personalised postcard, a humorous ode about Halloween, a premium themed ghost candle, and of course some sweet treats!

Our opinion is that print certainly isn’t dead! We believe that a good old fashioned marketing staple can now ironically feel quite fresh – a way to break through the digital advertising clutter.

We’re a team of creatives who believe that our individual abilities and perspectives are amplified when we come together to create change for our clients.
